Bert Tavender
Bert Tavender   I was born in San Franciso and grew up building tree houses with my cousins in England.  At age 16 my Mother recruited me as a Camp Counselor, Crafts and Swim Instructor at Camp Schwano and at various “Day Camps” she offered free for under priveliged inner city kids while working for the Camp Fire Girls, Inc. Organisation (an alternative to the Girls Scouts of America) in and around Dayton, Ohio.

I studied Business Management at the University of Maryland Campus in Munich, Germany and spent his summers working at a Campground in the Bavarian Alps on scenic Lake Chiemsee. After finishing my Bachelors in Interpersonal Communications at Ohio University in Athens,  I returned to Bavaria to work for the U.S. Army in the Hotel Business and later in Recreation.

As the Director of Youth Activies at Bad Aibling, I put together a diversified program of activities for the 350 youth ranging from 5-19 years old on the U.S. Base.  The activites varied from tree bridge games, sailing instruction and various water sports, to moutain hiking and rock climbing.

Jana Tavender-Reuß
Jana Tavender-Reuß   My name is Jana Tavender-Reuss and on the photo above you can see where I usually spend most of my free time – on a mountain.

I have a degree in Social Education (Social Work/ in German its Diplom-Sozialpädagogin) and am a passionate Alpinist and Mountain Biker. It’s not just about the fitness and conditioning, but because I enjoy the fantastic feeling of being in the middle of nature and taking it all in with all my senses.  I grew up in a farming region and even as a child would much rather play with sticks and stones than Barbie dolls. Along with the neighbour kids we enjoyed exploring the woods and climbed in trees.

During my studies I was involved with Nature and Adventure Education and it is my dream to make this my profession.  I would like to show children and adults the beauty of nature and why it is important to protect and support our natural environment so they can discover Nature as their playground.
In 2011 my son was born and I'm looking forward to exploring nature with him and letting him show me the world through his eyes.

Patricia Schroeder
Patricia SchroederMy name is Patricia Schroeder. I am a gymnastic teacher, an elderly care assistant and nutritional Counsellor for Earth Save. I worked at an orthopaedic Children’s clinic in Bavaria offering Physical therapy gymnastics and water therapy for youth with handicaps.

I later qualified as an Elderly Care Assistant and worked many years in Senior Care where I gathered many deep and moving experiences. During this time I began to focus on Nutrition due to my daughter’s serious illness. We discovered which huge effects a change in our eating habits could have on our physical and spiritual well being.

I decided to pursue the subject and completed a Nutritional Counsellor training by Earth Save in Frankfurt. I have given courses in Nutrition and Health for several years. I also offer wild Herb Gathering Hikes.

Nature’s Global Network

We have started a global network of "Nature Sharers". There are so many good websites, projects and programs out there. Wouldn’t it benefit all of us to coordinate and exchange our ideas and activites for the benefit of children (young and old) all over the globe? It is up to us to do something to reach the kids of the computer age and bring them back into their natural surroundings. It seems there is a lot of N.D.D. going around (Nature Deficit Disorder).  The younger kids in Germany think a "Cow is Purple" due to an Advertising Campaign for Milka Chocolate over here! But fortunately there are many people like you who are willing to inspire people to do something about the situation. Read more...
